How to Make a Mommy Panic

My eleven year old son recently came up to me and asked the question, “Isn’t explosive decompression just a fancy way of saying it went boom?”. He had that nervous twitch thing going on when he asked me this, too. As it turns out, he really did want to know and nothing had exploded yet. Still, one never knows when the warning will be real and not just a practice drill, does one?
Since then, just to keep us all on our toes for when the real thing hits, we have been spontaneous shouting “explosive decompression” at each other at random intervals. After all, you just never know.
