Yesterday was our library day. We had a plan. We had selected our subjects before we got there. We had even made sure that everyone who needed help would have a designated parent or older sibling to help him. It should have been a perfect trip. It really should!
I suppose that it would have been a perfect, too, had our van not decided to break down just as we were leaving the library. Our van has been having an intermittent and therefore hard to diagnose problem for some time. It chose yesterday at the library as the perfect time to display that little problem again. Sigh.
The good news is that we were only about two miles from our home and could (we all decided) just walk. We generally like going on walks together anyway, so it should have been a perfect ending to our library trip, right? Well, maybe not quite perfect…. You see, it had been raining all morning and had only cleared up around lunch time. It was hot and incredibly humid and two of us have body temperature regulation problem (hereditary, we are told). The walk was lovely, but hot. We identified and enjoyed quite a few trees and flowers in the heat. We even stopped by a little park on our way home and enjoyed a bit of fellowship and tried to catch our breath in the stifling humidity… It was great. Really. We just don’t want to do it again without better planning and some cooler weather.
