27 Jun 2009 From Joy to Sadness
 |  Category: Family, Prayer Request  | 10 Comments

As we reported a couple of weeks ago we were expecting another child. We are no longer expecting as today we found out the baby apparently failed to thrive after the eighth week. That was about the time we realized Birdie was pregnant. Birdie started spotting yesterday around noon and the doctor said if it got worse to go to the ER. We made that trip this morning where a sonogram confirmed what we already feared. There was no heartbeat. Birdie still has not technically miscarried yet but it is simply a mater of time.

Please keep Birdie and I in your prayers during this difficult time.

25 Jun 2009 If You Give A Homeschooler A Problem To Solve…

I recently mentioned to my eldest son, Tech, that I did not think I was eating quite like I should during this pregnancy.  He did what any good homeschooler would do and researched what I should be eating and made me a list of important foods that should be included in my diet.  He even put them in descending order of importance.  Am I blessed, or what?

Need I say more?

I actually do miss everyone and plan to get back to blogging soon.  First, however, I need to get back on top of my daily routine!

15 Jun 2009 Apparently, I’ve Been Acting Suspiciously

I say that because everyone in my life was suspecting what was going on (except for me, I can be VERY dense when I put my mind to it!). The morning sickness really should have been a give-away, though. Even I should have noticed THAT! Life should be getting much more interesting around the Eaglewood’s Nest here in the next seven months. ;)
08 Jun 2009 I’m Still Kinda Here, But…

My parents e-mailed last Thursday to let us know that they would be coming to visit us on Saturday.  They didn’t make it, but they did send me an e-mail to have me call them so that they could let me know that they cannot make it until Tuesday.  Life in the electronic age is weird, people!

So…  We are in a frenzy of baking and preparing.  That’s what we do.  Eaglewood left early this morning to spend the week teaching a class in Midland.  It was probably the wise thing to do! ;)

03 Jun 2009 A Slight Change In Plans
 |  Category: Beautiful Day, Books, Children  | 4 Comments

Yesterday was our library day.  We had a plan.  We had selected our subjects before we got there.  We had even made sure that everyone who needed help would have a designated parent or older sibling to help him.  It should have been a perfect trip.  It really should!

I suppose that it would have been a perfect, too, had our van not decided to break down just as we were leaving the library.  Our van has been having an intermittent and therefore hard to diagnose problem for some time.  It chose yesterday at the library as the perfect time to display that little problem again.  Sigh.

The good news is that we were only about two miles from our home and could (we all decided) just walk.  We generally like going on walks together anyway, so it should have been a perfect ending to our library trip, right?  Well, maybe not quite perfect….  You see, it had been raining all morning and had only cleared up around lunch time.  It was hot and incredibly humid and two of us have body temperature regulation problem (hereditary, we are told).  The walk was lovely, but hot.  We identified and enjoyed quite a few trees and flowers in the heat.  We even stopped by a little park on our way home and enjoyed a bit of fellowship and tried to catch our breath in the stifling humidity…  It was great.  Really.  We just don’t want to do it again without better planning and some cooler weather. ;)
