30 Mar 2009 I Met Lawanda!

Feel free to be jealous of me. She is even cuter, sweeter and more fun than she seems on her blog. Her girls are just lovely and her husband is a truly nice (if quiet) guy.

26 Mar 2009 Water Water Everywhere and Not A Drop To Spare!
 |  Category: Whining  | Leave a Comment
After getting quite a drenching from all of the heavy rains that hit our area yesterday, we are (quite ironically) without running water at times today while our city works on a leaky pipe on our street.  Naturally, I have decided to do what any self-respecting mommy of a larger than average family stuck at home without running water would do.  I’m packing up all of my children into the mini-van, grabbing some book coupons and running away from home (preferably to some nice little book store that happens to have working water fountains and toilets that flush!).
25 Mar 2009 Go Fly A Kite!

If you have been wondering where we are lately, and why we haven’t been posting, we’ve been flying kites.  Yep.  Kite flying has become a favorite activity amongst the nestlings here in Eaglewood’s Nest.

We have also been out walking quite a bit.  Our youngest little guy, Wildchild, recently got a new pair of shoes.  He is convinced that putting on his shoes means that we HAVE to take him for a walk.  He’s very persuasive.  I have to admit that I have a very difficult time resisting the charm of being led about our neighborhood by this incredibly happy and enthusiastic little  man. ;)

Eaglewood finally got our van put back together, but it seems that our new part may have been defective and he may have to change it out again.  In the meantime, he is consoling himself by shopping for some sort of older car to become our family’s new second vehicle.  I think that I may become addicted to internet car shopping if we don’t find something soon!  My one hope, at present, is that my limited attention span and tightwad nature will win out in the end. ;)

You Would Be a Crafty Superhero
You are naturally curious and even a bit of a snoop. You like to have dirt on everyone – both enemies and friends.

You need a lot of freedom in your life. You like to do your own thing, and you don’t fit into any normal mold.

Through lots of life experience, you understand the world well. You can often predict what people will do before they even think of doing it.

You tend to feel apart from the rest of the world. You don’t really fit in, and you don’t try to!

You are a true intellectual. You are thirsty for knowledge, and you are curious about the world.

16 Mar 2009 The Van Broke Down Again…
 |  Category: Prayer Request  | 3 Comments
…Late at night in a parking lot in another town.  Cardoc came to our rescue and got us home, and Eaglewood and I managed to get the van towed home the next morning.  This time it is the fuel pump that has gone out on it.  Big fun.  Please be praying for Eaglewood as he is fixing it himself, and that will include removing and then replacing the fuel tank.  Thanks.
13 Mar 2009 On Trying Not To Whine…

It may still be cold and raining here, but at least I have finally gotten over being whiny about it.  At least, I HOPE that I have gotten over the whining (I’m trying.  Really.  It is just much harder on bulk shopping day!)!  I love rainy days, I just don’t like COLD rainy days and the sort of weather we have been having this week is enough to make global warming (which I do not believe in) sound quite appealing!  Eaglewood’s dog, however, does not approve of rain of any sort.  He certainly does not approve of rain in HIS back yard. He does not particularly care for the cold either.  In fact, he heartily disapproves of any inclement weather and he doesn’t care who knows about it!
11 Mar 2009 Rain
 |  Category: Home-front, Whining  | Leave a Comment
A cold front has come to our little bit of Texas and brought with it some much-needed rain and also some gray dreary skies.  The weather has been oppressive and cold enough that even the cranes, mallards and frogs that usually inhabit our local creek have taken themselves into hiding to wait for a sunnier day.  I normally love rainy days, but that one has also caused us to cancel our plans for going out and feeding the ducks and geese later today.  I hope that a pot of lentil soup and some fresh-baked biscuits will improve attitudes somewhat.  I know that my attitude will certainly improve when Eaglewood comes home from his business trip tomorrow! ;)   As for the ducks and the geese… I guess they will just have to wait until the rain clears up.
10 Mar 2009 Book Sale Finds
 |  Category: Frugalality, YEA!  | 5 Comments

I’m sure that by now you know how much I love book sales, garage sales and thrifting.  This time we really hit the jackpot by getting all of these books  for less than $10 at a school book sale in a neighboring town!  I probably would have gotten more but toting around this bunch nearly broke my arm as it was! ;)

Wild Child was wonderfully behaved the entire time just sitting at my feet thumbing through boxes and stacks of books.  It did cause a bit of confusion, however, when someone thought I was talking to the stack of books in front of me instead of the baby at my feet!  I may be a little crazy, but I hope that I am not yet that far gone!
