Wildchild started walking this week and life will never be the same for him, or for the rest of our family. On the one hand, I pray that those little feet will take him far and that he will accomplish great things for G-d. On the other hand, I know that he is all too human (just like his parents!) and those little feet can lead him into all sorts of mischief. In the short term, I do know that his little feet have been leading him into all sorts of fun and the rest of our family has enjoyed chasing after him and enjoying that fun with him.
Beth from Brew Crew Adventure and my daughter, Lilly, both tagged me for this one.
RULES of the ’6 Quirky Things’ meme:
* Link to the person who tagged you.
* Mention the rules in your blog.
* Tell about six unspectacular quirks of yours.
* Tag a new set of six following bloggers by linking to them.
1. I have crooked thumbs. The thumb that I recently broke is actually looking a bit less crooked these days. Weird.
2. I have been told that I make faces. A lot.
3. I don’t really like chick flicks, or chick lit. There are a few exceptions, but as a rule, I find most of that stuff to be pretty silly.
4. It has been mentioned on this blog before, but my eldest son and I are scent senstive (part of our SID) to the point that we can often diagnose illness by sniffing someone. I have been told that this makes us odd and that “normal” people don’t say things like, “do I smell sick to you?”.
5. I pick things like stray socks up with my toes. My children also do this.
6. I have artists on both sides of my family.
I have collected a number of book titles that have been enjoyed by my household of mostly boys. I’m not sure about the reading levels on all of them, but there should be something here for almost everyone, and I will also try to add some more titles throughout the day.

My husband’s dear friend and mentor, Jimmie, sent out this prayer request. Please keep Darryl and his family in your prayers. Thank you very much.
Hello,
I have a prayer request. Pray for my brother Darryl.
I have had a long evening and night. I took Darryl to the hospital this evening with some wild symptomology. In 1989 he was in an auto accident and has a sever brain injury from the accident. He began displaying partial paralysis in his left face, neck, shoulder, arm and torso. Along with this symptomology we also added a rapid change in vision over the last three weeks, a limp and stumbling, and slurred speech. Blood work and a CT Scan revealed nothing out of the ordinary. He has not had a stroke or heart attack.
Darryl literally has the front third of his brain missing and the rear is 1/4 is damaged from the rebound of the brain during the wreck. Tonight the neurologist told us that there is nothing that they can do for him at the hospital and for us to take him to some out patient tests later this week. His original neurologist told us that one day his brain would begin to “fall apart” and that we would finally lose him to the injury. He has out lived patients who are in longitudinal studies who have had the same injury. He has lived well past when he was supposed to live.
In His Grace,
Jimmie
These days I seem to be having a difficult time finding anything to blog about. Life is good, but it is also busy. The things that fill our days are mostly good and worthwhile, but they hardly seem as though they might be interesting to anyone else.
We read a great deal. We read for our education, for our edification and for our entertainment. We play games. We work together and separately on the projects that seem to fill our days. We have been doing a bit of garage saling and thrifting lately to meet the clothing needs of our growing family. We’ve also been sorting through all that our children have outgrown and those things that we no longer use so that we can donate those things to someone who does need them. We discovered that we are really not very good at gardening, but the local bunny population really does appreciate our efforts! Our dog kind of likes our gardening as well since he gets to chase the bunnies and dig things up for us.
In other words, our days are full of good things, but they seem rather mundane. We just aren’t exciting people. We don’t lead the sorts of lives that make for good reading. If someone were to write about us, it would best be done as a bedtime story since we would proabably put our readers to sleep. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing; I like bedtime stories, too. While we aren’t the stuff of adventure novels or soap operas (and I DO thank G-d for that!), we are VERY happy this way. I think that if anything really defines our days, it might be the love that we have for each other.
You probably didn’t even know I was gone. Our cable modem has been down for awhile, but thanks to some very fast and very fine service from Time Warner, we are now back up and blogging!
Be warned… I may now be visiting YOUR blog soon!
