31 May 2008 Hmmm…
 |  Category: Just For Fun, Meme  | One Comment

Based on your responses, “Mutant Zombie Cyborg Armadillos From Outer Space” might just be a box office hit!  On the other hand, Heidi may have just inspired a rental store run on “Ankle Biter: Dwarf Vampires”. ;)

Can you see the meme potential of this whole thing?  Me too!

So…. Let’s say that you have just been captured by our now famous “Mutant Zombie Cyborg Armadillos From Outer Space” and had only the items in your pockets,  or purse, or the items in your car’s glove compartment and/or trunk to help you survive and eventually escape.  Would you be able to do it?  How?

And, being a blogger, I find myself taking this question to YOU.  Do you believe that ANYONE would go see a movie called “Mutant Zombie Cyborg Armadillos From Outer Space” were such a movie to be made?  Please share your opinion.  Feel free to elaborate.  Laugh all you want.  And, yes, this really is an example of the high caliber of debate that we managed to aspire to today. ;)

Hi!

We had a wonderful time at the zoo in spite of the heat and the crowds.  Baby Buddy was particularly fascinated with the birds there.  Some of them were actual exhibits, but several of his favorites were tourists like ourselves. ;)

We did some thrift shopping for the big kids and tried our hand at being lazy bums.  We don’t make good lazy bums.   Our family contains too many hyperactive people doing too many things to pull off lazy, I guess.  Maybe we just need more practice!

It seems that most of my time these days is taken up with a rapidly growing, busily teething, almost constantly nursing, adorable little busy-body.  The rest of my time is usually taken up with the rest of the family.  I have a lot of things I would like to share, but I so seldom seem to have time.  Maybe things will settle down soon.  In the meantime, I intend to enjoy every moment of the current insanity.  My eldest is rapidly approaching 17.  His days of living at home are dwindling.  He really is growing up.  He is making for a good reminder to enjoy every moment with each of my children.  Each and every one of them is a unique gift from G-d and these days of their youth and childhood will not last long.

This time we will be taking off a day to head over to one of the local zoos and then over to a park for a picnic.  Does anyone have any suggestions for some good follow-up reading?
23 May 2008 A Visit To Our House Meme
 |  Category: Meme  | 4 Comments

Tim’s Mom blogs at Bona Vita Rusticanda Est, and she tagged Mama Squirrel of Dewey’s Treehouse for a meme she created.  Mama Squirrel tagged me.  So now you get to read more about us than you were probably interested in knowing. ;)

Tim’s Mom writes:
“People who visit us get a taste of who we are, what we’re into, and what we’re like. I notice that my kids tend to show new visitors the same computer things they like, or play music for them that they love that our guests have probably never heard, and offer the same snacks.Since there are lots of people I know via the internet who may never get the chance to visit us, I thought I’d offer a virtual glimpse of a visit to our house.”

If you came to our house–You would see: Ummm…. Us?  Our dog and cat (a.k.a. The Orange Rug)?  And books.  Lots of books and scrapbooks.  Sneefert and Puddleglum have a multitude of Legos which are hard to miss…

We’d probably feed you: Most likely some sort of hot sandwich, sandwich wrap, or quiche.  How do you feel about Mexican food?  This IS Texas, after all!  Oh, and muffins…  We are really into baking all sorts of muffins lately.

And offer you this to drink: Coffee, tea, milk or water.  We’re boring that way.

We’d undoubtedly ask if you’d read: Like Mama Squirrel, I would probably wait to see what interested you before asking about your reading habits.  We try not to scare people off until after we’ve fed them. ;)

We’d want to play this music for you: Overall, our tastes are pretty eclectic.  Pookie would probably want to play some Kutless for you, though!

We’d want to tell you the latest about: Latest news?  We have latest news about something?  Why didn’t anyone tell me?

We’d probably suggest a game of:  Baseball at the local park, foxtail in the back yard or the field, or a board game.

We might show off: photos, crafts, art and books.  Ditto might show off whatever computer or game system he is currently working on.  Sneefert and Puddleglum would probably want to show off their latest Lego creations.  If it is dark out, we might bore you with the telescope…  If you are an especially  brave soul and happen to have an interest in local history, we might even drive you over to the courthouse in McKinney to see the statue of our great, great, great, great (great?) grandfather… ;)

We might get on the computer and show you: Maybe something from You-tube?  I have no idea.

If it was a long enough visit, we might watch: “Meet the Robinsons” got the highest vote here…  What would you want to watch?

Oh–and if I have to tag some other bloggers?
Whoever feels brave enough to share a bit about THEIR homes!

20 May 2008 Amusing On So Many Levels…

You Are a Salty Person

When it comes to snacks, you’re more likely to grab a bag of chips over a bag of cookies.

There’s a good chance you’re male (men prefer salty snacks)…
Or at least, you feel very comfortable in male dominated environments.

Your taste tends to be complex, sophisticated, and adult.
You tend to crave your favorite restaurant meal… or mom’s cooking.

Sooo… Are YOU sweet or salty

19 May 2008 I’m Supposed To Be Miserable

At least, according to this article (http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=64688) I am supposed to be an amazingly unhappy person.  Ironically, while I might be considered poor by many, I don’t feel poor at all, and I have never been happier in my life.  How about you?

12 May 2008 Feel Like Sharing?

I hope that everyone had the most joyous and blessed Mother’s Day yet!  Children are a blessing and I am grateful to G-d for giving me each and every one of mine even on their worst of days.

In somewhat belated honor of the day, how about sharing some of the unexpected lessons you have learned from being a parent (i.e. how to type an entire blog post one-handed while being used as a teething toy by your six-month-old or how to get a largish family of boys all moving in the same direction at the same time without trampling each other)?
