We spent the early part of our day trying to solve mysteries like why on earth was the food coloring that we bought specifically for our science experiments in the giant jar of stuff that we use for science experiments? Obviously, some sinister plot is afoot.
We also spent most of our lunch hour trying to figure out the best way to get a Marvel Universe symbiote to bond with a dress. The best (and funniest) suggestions involved a jar of peanut butter and a poodle. Boys!
Please tell me this stuff happens at YOUR house, too?
By the way, thanks to all who shared their Thanksgiving blessings! We LOVED reading what you are all thankful for.
May you and yours have the happiest and most blessed of holidays this year!
So… What are YOU most thankful for this year?
As you can imagine, things have been busy here. Things are going really well for us and I almost have M. Z. completely weened off the bottle. However, he still has his days and nights mixed up. I’m not getting much sleep and I’m not staying on top of blogging, e-mail, or even keeping up with our extended family! Fortunately, my family forgives me!
I feel particularly blessed to report that my children have completely taken over the Thanksgiving menu planning and have pretty much left me free to just take care of M. Z. this year! I will probably miss doing things WITH them, but at least I can get in some practice juggling the baby and my camera before Christmas!
Those challenging days of homeschooling have officially begun for us again. We are juggling the needs and comfort of a VERY tiny person with the educational needs of the older children. Read alouds must sometime pause to comfort or feed a baby (sometimes to great relief on the part of a nameless reader seeking something more fun to do!). Dictation must be juggled with diaper changes. Don’t even ask about math, foreign language or other lessons. I’m still trying to figure out that part! The good news is that we really are having fun getting to know and care for M. Z. and we REALLY DO know just how blessed we are to have him. I’ve heard it said that “the baby IS the lesson” and I’m hoping that it’s true! I’m not sure how much we are getting out of some of the formal lessons we have been trying to teach the children, but I do know that they are learning a great deal about caring for the helpless these days.
Of course, I am still open to advice…
Thank you all so much for your prayers and congratulations. We really are over the moon here in the Eaglewood Nest! I am extremely sore from our baby’s C-section (his umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck), but should start posting a few photos and a more complete update sometime tomorrow. I just couldn’t wait any longer to thank you all!
