31 Oct 2007 Update and Prayer Request
 |  Category: Family, Prayer Request  | 16 Comments
Our new bundle of joy arrived today at 6:35 pm. He weighed 9 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches long. Mama is doing well and baby is doing fairly well. He is having some problems with blood sugar and a problem with breathing that is common with children born by C-section. Please keep him in your prayers.

There has been a lot of discussion around the family about what day the new one would arrive. The one day we all said would not be an ideal day is today, Oct 31st. Well, guess what? We are on our way to the hospital with Birdie having contractions about 10 min apart. We think now that she may have been in labor to some extent since Monday. She is very tired as she has had very little rest since then. Please keep her and the baby in your prayers. Just maybe I will be posting about our new bundle of joy in short order.

23 Oct 2007 We are getting close

As some of you will notice on the side bar we are very close to our due date. Birdie does not think we will make it that long. She is starting to have some of the usual signs that this one will be here soon. Maybe a week or so away. Smiley

Please keep her in your prayers. This is a very uncomfortable time for her, and she is suffering from the after affects of a bad epidural she had with one of the other children.

She is having a hard time sitting up at the computer so posting will be light if at all until the new bundle of joy is here.

Again.

Posting will probably be light as we try to find ways of staying cool.

15 Oct 2007 Viruses, Broken Air Conditioners, Evil Raccoons and Pregnancy Don’t Mix!
 |  Category: Children, Family, Home-front  | 4 Comments

You may have to trust me on this one if you have never experienced that particular combination of weekend events. ;)   However, just in case you want to read my story anyway, here it is!

Our air conditioner sprung a leak and broke down on Thursday afternoon of last week.  Since we have a great (and prompt!) landlady who has a really great (and FUNNY) neighbor who happens to be an a/c guy, we really weren’t too worried about getting it fixed pretty quickly.  However, we ended up spending a couple of days in temperatures that should NOT be imposed on anyone of my current state of overheated pregnancy because the a/c guy (have I mentioned that my children LOVE this guy?) had to spend some (quite a bit of) time filing reports and explaining to the police just WHY he had shot the raccoons who had dug a crater under his house undermining the foundation and doing considerable damage to his home’s foundation before ripping out his attic insulation and dragging it down there to make themselves some comfy coon furniture.  In spite of the heat, my sympathies were with the a/c guy!  At least, my sympathies WOULD have been entirely with the a/c guy except for the fact that Sneefert and I both came down with a stomach bug on Thursday and Friday while the house was still miserably hot.  Being pregnant and overheated while dealing with a sick child and sick stomach tends to unfairly erode one’s sympathy for others. :p  Ditto and Pookie woke up with the same admittedly MILD stomach bug this morning, but we DID have a couple of days off from any real illness over the weekend!  At any rate, you now know why I spent the weekend avoiding the computer. ;)   On a more positive note, we found some GREAT bargains on several books we had been wanting at the local thrift stores and used book stores and the children really enjoyed it when I broke down and took them all out for ice cream (or similarly priced items for those like Puddleglum, Ditto and myself who either don’t care for sweets or are allergic to most of them).  We ended up having quite a bit of fun and our a/c is now working better than ever.  Of course, a cold front moved in last night and we aren’t actually NEEDING the a/c today, but I’m sure that’s just a cosmic coincidence. ;)

I present to you actually photographic proof that I still have feet! Smiley  I’m kind of starting to MISS them!

09 Oct 2007 Eaglewood’s Coming Home From California a Day Early!
Great is the rejoicing here in the Nest!  However, poor Eaglewood (who had a miserable flight out there) is currently suffering from a migraine and won’t be getting home until well after 1:00 a.m.  Prayers on his behalf are GREATLY appreciated!  Thanks a bunch, friends!
08 Oct 2007 Feeling MUCH Better!

Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes!

The children and I had originally thought we were just dealing with the usual seasonal allergies, but it turned out that we had a mild virus on top of that.  We are all feeling MUCH better now.  However, the baby has been moving downward and leaving me feeling quite sore and short of breath some days.  Eaglewood, as usual, managed to miss out on all of the illness (bless him!).  Unfortunately, he is currently in California on a job site for a few days.  We miss  him terribly, but are trying to get caught up on a few things around the house while he’s away.  We also managed to have a productive weekend of cleaning, washing, caulking (Thanks Ditto!) and picture and mirror hanging (Thanks Eaglewood!).  Here are some photos of a few of the things we have been up to.

Sneefert and Puddleglum helped out by spending some time painting the new shelf for the children’s bathroom.

Crocheted_Pumpkins.jpg

Some crocheted pumpkins I recently made with some help from the boys led to a crochet lesson for Pookie who is now making her own!

Sneefert and Puddleglum have been helping out by finding the sticks that we used for pumpkin stems and by gluing on the felt leaves.

Pookie also helped me out with making some Fall coasters to protect our coffee table, and arranging flowers in a couple of old soup cans that we covered to match.

Not to be outdone, Sneefert and Puddleglum helped to make some fun Fall turkey pillows for our living room!

The little guys had a great time gluing the turkey pieces into place (I blanket stitched over them just to make sure they would last) and stuffing the pillows!

I also FINALLY managed to get Ditto’s hair cut for him.  I’ll try to post a photo of him soon (IF he cooperates!).  I guess that’s about all of the news from here in the Eaglewoods’ Nest!  Thanks again for all of the prayers and well wishes.   They are appreciated more than I could possibly tell you!
